Map and Cadastre Technician is to perform calculations and drawings from the information obtained from the field with electronic measuring instruments, to make calculations and drawings in computer environment, to produce large-scale maps for land-based engineering projects by using GPS / CORS land measuring instruments that can measure via satellites and to apply these projects to the field. . Map Cadastre Technicians; In the studies and projects of highway, railway, dam, irrigation, tunnel and similar engineering projects, in the application of these projects to the land, in the preparation and implementation of urban and zoning planning, city maps, zoning plan applications, parcel planning, cadastre, land consolidation projects, production of topographic maps, in historical-architectural buildings and plankote works of buildings, oil-mineral exploration and reserve determination studies, etc. take an active role in the execution of technical services. Mapping and Cadastre Technician is an intermediate staff that ensures the work flow between engineers and technicians / workers in the mapping sector. Graduates of the Map and Cadastre Program receive the title of "Map and Cadastre Technician".

Nowadays, when the studies for the completion of the cadastre of our country or the re-updating of the areas whose cadastre was previously completed are on the agenda, the need for Map and Cadastre Technician is highlighted. The fact that at least two Map and Cadastre Technicians will be legally employed in hundreds of licensed map offices that have recently been put into practice, makes this profession important. Accordingly, the Map and Cadastre Technician is involved in the preparation of land maps, information and documents, and the application of the prepared projects to the land. There are employment opportunities in almost all of the public institutions and legal institutions such as General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, General Directorate of Highways, Iller Bank, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, Municipalities.

Considering that double road projects and Land Consolidation Projects are intensely implemented in our country and that there will be significant incentives and investments in the next decade, especially in the East and Southeast Regions, all investments will start with cartography activities, the Map and Cadastre sector will develop and accordingly, there will be intensive employment. an increase will be seen.

Working Environment and Conditions

Map cadastre technicians carry out their duties both in the office and outdoors. Depending on the situation of the workplace, topographers work in cooperation with professional disciplines such as geology, geophysics, map and cadastre, construction, environmental and petroleum engineers. Their duties require frequent travel.

Qualifications Earned During Education

- Draws maps and sketches of the land with various tools
- Makes calculations from land measurements in the office
- Makes corrections and colorings on maps
- Maintains and adjusts the tools to be used in field measurements.
- Acts as an expert when there are no Survey and Cadastre Engineers in the courts.

Map and Cadastre Technicians; Recorder of deeds, Bank of Provinces General Directorate of Highways General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, Environment and Forestry and the Ministry of Urbanism, Special Provincial Administrations, Municipalities, Turkey Coal Mines, Mining Technical Exploration, Land and Agriculture Reform General Directorate of GAP, DLH , DDY, DHM etc. They can work in public institutions and private sector organizations (Map Companies, Construction Companies, Mining Companies etc.).


Profession Progress


Those who successfully complete the Map Cadastre Program can make a vertical transfer to the Undergraduate Map Cadastre Engineering program, if they are successful in the (DGS) Vertical Transfer Exam held by ÖSYM. Map Cadastre Technicians can become department chiefs in the institutions and organizations they work for, depending on their service period and their performance. 

The Map and Cadastre Program, which was opened in 2000 under the Technical Programs Department of Harran University Kahta Vocational High School, carried out educational activities under the Department of Technical Programs at Adıyaman University Kahta Vocational School after the establishment of Adıyaman University in 2006. In 2009, within the scope of IKMEP project prepared by YÖK for Vocational Schools and Bologna Process, a new classification according to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED - 97) International Education Standard Classification and International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO - 88) has made division and program classification. Accordingly, the Map and Cadastre Program is linked to the 581 coded Architecture and Urban Planning Department. In accordance with this structuring, the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning was established in Adıyaman University Kahta Vocational High School in 2010 and the "Map and Cadastre Program" was linked to this department.

The task of the Map and Cadastre Technician is to collect and evaluate geometric and thematic information about natural and artificial land details regarding the whole or a part of the earth, to manage the information in an electronic environment with a system approach and to put it into service, when requested, in a projection system suitable for the desired purpose at a certain scale. It is to present the users graphically and at the same time to establish the relations between the environment where spatial information is stored and the land. This aspect of our profession; Provides interdisciplinary and necessary services for the construction and implementation of the projects to the relevant institutions, organizations and individuals by providing the required data of the land together with many engineering disciplines related to the land in activities such as urban planning, rural and urban land arrangements, construction, forestry and mining. .
